Moving forward with the Blog aspect I've decided to archive our travels and events over the past year or so here....

June 2016:

  • Proposed trip to the Mosel Valley in Germany cancelled at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. An alternate trip to Scotland hastily arranged and what a great week it was. Wall-to-wall sunshine (in contrast to central Europe's weather!); strange how these things work out.....'omens' apparently!
  • Two nights at the Falkirk Wheel (£10 parking charge per night payable at the Visitor Centre). Easy cycle ride to the Kelpies along the canal path from the Wheel.
  • Trip through the Trossachs and Great Glen upto Morvich Caravan Club Site.
  • Visit to SkyeSkyns at Waternish on the Isle of Skye. Overnight camping at Sligachen Campsite. No booking required. £7.50 per adult per night. £5 per night electric. Full facilities.
  • Trip to Pitlochry and the Salmon ladders. Overnight parking available in 4 dedicated caravan bays at the Atholl Road car park next to the HeatherGems visitor centre.
  • Two night stop over at Edinburgh Caravan Club Site. Easy cycle into town centre.

May 2016:
  • Weekend away at Lyndon Top Caravan Park, Rutland Water. Fantastic 112 acre site with great views overlooking Rutland Water. £7 per night with fresh water and Elsan facilities. Great cycle opportunities.
April 2016:
  • Two week vacation down to Camping Bon Repos, Santa Susanna on the Costa Brava.
  • Stop-overs en-route to Spain included: Lamotte Beuveron  Aire de Camping Car; La Cavalerie Aire de Camping Car; Carcassonne, Vierzon Aire de Camping Car.
  • More Dash cam footage added to YouTube of our routes to new motorhome Aires > Motoroaming YouTube Channel
March 2016:
February 2016:
  • Weekend away to Southport Pleasurelands Postcode PR8 1RX. £8 per night parking.
  • Weekend away to Scarborough Scalby Mills (Sealife Centre) to test out TelAir Generator. 3 hrs to charge bike batteries from flat.
  • Trip to VanBitz and Cornish Farm Campsite in Taunton, Somerset. 'Growler' motorhome security alarm fitted.
  • New dash cam footage video added to YouTube channel of the route to Cornish Farm, Taunton.
  • Motorhome back to Mick at SAP Ltd in Doncaster to complete installation of TelAir Ecco 600 MEF 12v Generator. New seals fitted to all external lockers.
January 2016:
  • New Waeco RVS 794 Twin Reversing Camera fitted by Phil at Rhino Installs.
  • Les Saisies Christmas 2015 is abandoned due to lack of snow and electrical fault with the motorhome. Fault identified as blown 50amp fuse at vehicle battery and tripped habitation mains unit.
  • Lake Titisee in the Black Forest and a detour to Rothenberg ob der Tauber provide alternate distraction.
December 2015:
  • Attempts to find snow in the French Alps for some seasonal ski fun.
  • Europa Park, Rust - The xmas experience here is amazing. Wonderful decorations, Xmas Market and hundred's of xmas trees.....certainly puts Disney's efforts to shame!
  • Christmas Market visit to Bruges. Levelling system called into serious action on the Aire!
  • Winter Vacation to Germany and the French Alps
  • Specialist Automotive Products Ltd (SAP) complete full VB Air Suspension and E&P Levelling system. The results are amazing and would definitely recommend to anyone considering an upgrade.
November 2015:
  • Van delivered to Specialist Automotive Products in Doncaster for various upgrades to include: VB Full Air Suspension; E&P Hydraulic Levelling; TelAir Ecco 600 MEF 12v Generator.

  • Weekend away in Haworth, West Yorkshire - Home of the Bronte Family. Overnight stop-over in the Bronte Village Car Park. £4 per day parking. No restrictions.
October 2015:
  • Our Eura Mobil has been re-upholstered by Regal Furnishings. Excellent job and we're really pleased.
  • New Dash-Cam footage showing our route to Pickering Antique Centre Motorhome stop-over.
  • Trip to OnBike in Worcester to collect our new electric bikes.
  • Trip to the Malvern Motorhome & Caravan Show.
  • Trip the N.E.C for the Motorhome and Caravan Show to see the Telair Ecco Generator
  • Trip booked in for motorhome re-upholstery at Regal Furnishings.
  • Rhino Installs fitted: 250w of Solar and Victron MPPT controller, 1500w Sterling Inverter with auto switchover and remote; Victron Battery Monitor, New 240v and USB Habitation Sockets
September 2015:
  • Dash Cam footage added of our route to Lake Iseo, Italy; Motorhome Sosta at Peschiera del Garda, Italy, TCS Camping Lugano, Italy
  • Trip to Autogas 2000 near Thirsk, North Yorkshire to arrange fitting of two new Prakto re-fillable gas tanks.
  • MOT for the motorhome at our local garage.
  • Trip to Regal Furnishings in Ilkeston, Derbyshire to consider new upholstery for the motorhome.
  • Trip to Jackson's Satellites at Wakefield, West Yorkshire for a twin LNB Oyster Satellite upgrade, new 24" Avtex and 2 x IceCrypt boxes.
  • Trip to Lincoln Motorhome Show. 
August 2015:
  • Summer Vacation to Switzerland & the North Italian Lakes

July 2015:
  • Weekend away to Pickering & the East Coast. Overnight parking at Pickering Antiques Centre ideally placed for a visit to the town. £10 for 24 hours and includes waste disposal and fresh water if required. Great place for the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway.
  • Weekend away to Worcester for a test ride of potential new electric bike courtesy of OnBike.
  • New stop-over destination added to our 'Destinations Map' for Worcester.
June 2015:
  • Trip to Berlin and the Tropical Islands Resort.
  • Overnight stop-over at Hameln in Germany, famous for the Pied-Piper folk story.
  • Dash Cam footage uploaded of a car going the wrong way on the A16 at Calais.
  • Dash Cam footage of the Hameln Stellplatz in Germany added to the YouTube channel.
  • Dash Cam footage of the Tropical Islands Resort uploaded to YouTube.
  • New additions to our Destinations Map.
May 2015:
  • New YouTube video added showing us departing the Sea-Life Centre (free overnight stop-over) at Scalby Mills and driving along the North Bay to the Spa complex in Scarborough. A great seaside resort that could offer motorhome owners so much more if they wanted!
  • May Bank holiday weekend in North Devon staying at Smytham Manor campsite test driving Kalkhoff Compact electric cycles courtesy of 'Bike Higher' in Torrington.
  • A 'speeded-up' (x2 normal speed) video has been added to the YouTube channel showing dash-cam footage of our route from the Cite-Europe motorhome aire to the fuel station at Auchan in Calais. Great for the first fill-up (or last!) en-route to your holiday destinations.
  • A video showing our motorhome route to the campsite at Aachen in Germany. Open 24 hours this is a great stop-over easily reachable from Calais in a day traversing across Belgium.
  • More dash cam footage added to the YouTube video channel showing our route to the KNAUS Camping park at Koblenz, Germany. 
  • Bad Bellingen Stellplatz Video added to the YouTube Channel. This is a short video featuring dash-cam footage as we approach the stellplatz from the north.
  • Euro Tunnel (Calais) to Cite-Europe Motorhome Aire dash-cam footage added to the YouTube Channel. This video shows our route after disembarking the train at Euro Tunnel (Calais) to Cite Europe. A handy staging post for a few hours rest and Carrefour shopping (amongst many other stores!).
April 2015:
  • Weekend away to the east coast. Saturday trip to Whitby (peak Goth weekend!) and Sunday spent in Scarborough.
  • Two week trip to Germany with new additions to the Destinations Map.
  • Plenty of Dash Cam footage taken but still figuring out how to edit into reasonable video viewing!
  • New Visits to Cologne; Koblenz; & Europa Park.

Interlaken and a trip to Harder Kulm

The town of Interlaken is easily accessible from Camping Manor Farm with several transit options available to visitors of the campsite. For cyclists there is a very easy and mostly flat cycle route into the town of approximately 3 miles. There are a couple of variations to the route, a scenic tour through the forest and alongside the river, or the more direct route along the main road. For those without bikes there is a very efficient and regular bus service that departs from outside of the campsite which will have you into Interlaken West (or alternate destinations if you choose) in no time at all. Bus timetables are readily available in the campsite information room, which in my view betters many a tourist office! There is also the boat option, which is provided free to guests of Camping Manor Farm, that departs from the boat launch area of Hotel Neuhaus just a short walk from the campsite. Good Morning Jungfraujoch!

The weather in Interlaken was fantastic, Camping Manor Farm was excellent and we were enjoying ourselves far too much in our lake-side setting to consider moving on to pastures new. With a new found sense of commitment it was decided that we should venture out and take in some more of the wonderful Bernese Oberland region. Undoubtedly, the destination highlight of the region is the 'Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe' the highest railway station in Europe located 3,454 metres above sea level. However, at 204CHF per person for a return journey this is clearly not a cheap day out on the trains.....particularly if you have a family in tow! Thankfully, those thoughtful Swiss folk have presented visitors with a 'less-expensive' option to visit this unique destination that really does provide great value for money....and it is called the 'Good Morning Ticket' (GMT). 5 Star Camping in Switzerland - Stop Three of our Summer Tour 2016

5 Star Camping on the shores of Lake Thun, Switzerland Our 2015 Summer vacation was the first year in over a decade of motorhome touring we had ever experienced lakeside camping; taking in campsites on the shores of Lake Lugano in Switzerland and the north Italian lakes of Iseo and Garda. This was something of a revelation and as we enjoyed ourselves so much the plan for our Summer 2016 tour was more of the same.....just hopefully in different places! Moving on from Kaysersberg and intending, (as we were) to make for Venice, the route was planned via Switzerland and into northern Italy via the Gothard Tunnel.
